The framings below illustrate how a class of incident is typically presented across perspectives. They are not the output of any particular newsroom on any particular day. For methodology, see bias methodology.

Linguistic and editorial signals to notice as you read the framings.
Two officials met at a specified location. Readouts from the two sides diverge on what was agreed. A follow-on contact appears to be under discussion. Substantive movement, if any, is more likely to be visible in the technical-level follow-up than in the public readouts.
Direct contact between the two sides has been resumed. Substantive follow-up — technical-level meetings, agreed agenda items, draft text — matters more than the public readouts. The fact of the meeting is itself a small positive signal.
Iran engaged in the meeting in good faith. Further progress depends on the lifting of illegitimate external pressure, including unilateral sanctions and external support for adversary actions.
Talks are underway. The pressure architecture remains in place pending verifiable steps from the other side. Premature relief would reduce leverage for the substantive concessions still required.

Talks should not be permitted to produce a flawed agreement. Verification mechanisms — not promises — are decisive. A weak agreement is worse than no agreement.

Resumed direct contact reduces escalation risk and serves third-country interests directly. Public characterisation by either side should be discounted; the technical-level follow-up is the signal.
Treat the dueling readouts as theatre and watch for the technical-level follow-up. A meeting that produces a working group is more substantive than a meeting that produces a press conference.
